Enugu State Power Team Pays Courtesy Visit to New Attorney General, Advances REDSEM Grant Agreement!

On 29 September 2026, the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission (EERC) joined other members of the State Power Team on a courtesy visit to the Attorney General, Barr. Osinachi Austin Nnajieze, at his office. The visit also served to advance the finalization of the REDSEM Grant Agreement, securing the legal support needed to sustain the progress made so far on the REDSEM Project.

The delegation included the EERC Chairman/CEO, Mr. Chijioke M. Okonkwo; Hon. Engr. Enyinna Franklin Ogbonna, Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources; Dr. Chuka Akunne, Commissioner, Organizational Support; Barr. Reuben Okoye, Commissioner, Market Operations; Engr. Chinedum Ukabiala, Commissioner, Engineering and Safety; Mr. Joe Anieke, Senior Special Assistant on Power; and Barr. Pamela Richard-Anyamele, Assistant Manager, Legal.

The Renewable Energy Development for State Electricity Market (REDSEM) is a State Government initiative, supported by the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, to deploy solar mini grids in underserved and unserved communities across Enugu. Designed to demonstrate the viability of renewable energy investment under the Electricity Act 2023 and the Enugu State Electricity Law, the project will bring reliable, affordable power to households, schools, healthcare facilities, farms, and small businesses, while creating local jobs and building long-term technical capacity.

For Enugu, electricity is the engine of economic growth and a catalyst for social progress.
