The Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission EERC NG has granted a 20-year electricity distribution licence to MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited. This landmark decision marks the first electricity distribution licence issued under Enugu State’s electricity regulatory framework and formally establishes MainPower as the licensed electricity distributor in the state.

MainPower had already been operating under an interim licence, managing electricity distribution following the transfer of the Enugu operations.

The issuance of the 20 year licence now provides long term regulatory certainty and strengthens the foundation for sustained investment and improved service delivery.

This milestone reinforces the commitment of the Enugu State Electricity Regulatory Commission to building a modern, transparent, and competitive electricity market that supports embedded generation, encourages private sector participation, and enhances electricity supply for Ndi Enugu.

A new chapter in the transformation of the power sector in Enugu State has begun.
